Currently technology is developing very rapidly from time to time. Therefore, the negative effects of technology is also increasing. Before knowing this, we must know what information technology is.
What is Information Technology?
Information technology is technology used to process data, including processing, obtaining, compiling, storing, manipulating data in various ways to produce quality information, namely information that is relevant, accurate and timely, which is used for personal, business and governance as well as strategic information for decision making.
Communication technology is an extension of communication science based on technology such as wireless, internet, facsimile, computer and so on.
ICT includes two aspects, namely information technology and communication technology.
- Information Technology includes all matters relating to the process, use as a tool, manipulation, and management of information.
- Communication Technology is everything related to the use of tools to process and transfer data from one device to another.
The Purpose of Studying Information and Communication Technology
In particular, the objectives of studying Information and Communication Technology are:
- Motivate our ability to adapt and anticipate ICT developments, so that we can perform and carry out daily life activities independently and more confidently.
- We are aware of the potential for the development of information and communication technology that is constantly changing so that we are motivated to evaluate and study this technology as a basis for lifelong learning.
- Develop ICT-based learning skills, so that the learning process can be more optimal, attract and encourage us to be more skilled in communicating, skilled in organizing information, and accustomed to working together.
- Develop independent, initiative, innovative, creative and responsible learning skills in the use of Information and Communication Technology to study, work, and solve everyday problems.
- Develop our competence in using Information and Communication Technology to support learning, work, and various activities in daily life.
Negative Impacts and Effects of Technology and How to Overcome Them
Until now, the development of science has brought society to a new phase, namely the process of utilizing equipment that is the result of technology.
The use of human labor which is decreasing day by day often causes people to lose their jobs because their duties are replaced by equipment or machines. As a means of delivering information and communication, computers can be used as a means of surfing in cyberspace. Through the internet, people can find various kinds of information and communicate.
The role that can be given by this information technology application is to get information for personal life such as information about health, hobbies, recreation, and spirituality.
In addition to providing benefits, it turns out that information and communication technology devices also have a negative impact on their users. These negative impacts arise as a result of the wrong or irresponsible use of the user.
Some of the negative effects of technology are :
1). Children spend more time watching TV than doing other things (such as studying and exercising).
2). Children lose the ability to blend in with society and tend to be comfortable with online life.
3) There is copyright infringement.
4). crime on the internet.
5). Spread of computer viruses.
6). Pornography, gambling, fraud, violent viewing.
Ways to overcome these negative effects of technology are:
1). Use technology to build relationships with people you already know.
2). Look for positive communities that meet frequently in the real world.
3). The need for enforcement of applicable laws with the establishment of an internet police.
4). Avoid the use of mobile phones with advanced features by minors and supervise the use of mobile phones.
5). Read more educative and faith-based books and educational computer applications.
6). The need for setting the time to be in front of the computer or television.
